But that time period was fairly short-lived and the situation is different now. In August 2023, amid the American shopping spree in Paris and other European cities, Chanel raised prices in Europe only to compensate for currency fluctuations. As a result, the euro and dollar prices were closer to parity. Later price hikes on the Classic Flap (March 2023 and March 2024) were imposed globally, leaving prices relatively comparable. In addition, the dollar is no longer as strong against the euro, meaning that currency exchanges provide little advantage.
